| The America's Cup is a competition that is
startling in its simplicity. At its heart, it is a duel
between two boats. You win or you lose... there is
nothing in between. But within that framework is a
beautiful competition rich in history, technology,
personalities and drama. |

First time in Europe
The Challengers and the Defender have split the six matches
sailed since 1983 with the Swiss Alinghi the latest Challenger
to triumph in 2003 in New Zealand. Alinghi's win brings the
America's Cup to Europe for the first time, and with no sea in
Switzerland, the spanish city of Valencia was selected as the
host city, in part due to its reliable weather conditions.

A new competition System
The 32nd America's Cup in Europe is an
opportunity to update the competition. For the first
time, a series of 13 regattas, the Louis Vuitton Acts,
are sailed over four years, prior to the climax of 2007.
Before the Louis Vuitton Cup and the final America's Cup
Match takes place in Valencia, the show went on the road
to Marseille, Malmö-Skäne and Trapani. All teams
compete in the Louis Vuitton Acts, with results counting
towards bonus points for the Louis Vuitton Cup.
