Calpe is a city of the Costa Blanca focused mainly in tourism .This villa of Spain is located in the map, 64 kilometers north of Alicante and 122 kilometers south of Valencia. Sitting next to its famous rock (Ifach) and on a hill of Sierra Bernia, a spectacular geographical feature that allows the connection between the southern towns of La Marina.

It is an authentic tourist village, which has a coastline made of fine sandy beaches with narrower parts that create cliffs and ancient saltworks. Along the promenade you can find remains of a salting factory enabled by the Romans. 

Its many hotels offer the visitor an ideal place to enjoy the sun and the beach.

The weather in Calpe

This Villa of the Costa Blanca can show off thanks to the warm and temperate climate, ideal for enjoying beaches and coves. Its hot summers and mild winters make this location a perfect place to have some holidays and enjoy the existing hotels just in front of the ocean. The average annual temperature is 18 degrees.

The historic center of the city has many places of interest.  Walk around the narrow and cobblestoned streets, observe the remains of the historic walls and feel its environment is pleasure for everyone, 

What to do in Calpe

For great holidays, after staying in some of the hotels in Bahía de Calpe in the City we can start enjoying its countless places of interest.

The fishing port offers incredible activity when the time of the auction arrives. Then, on the terraces of the restaurants located at the beach, they offer places to eat and the opportunity to taste fresh seafood.

Climbing the Ifach Rock to its highest stop is not longer allowed but you can prepare a walk halfway to the top that is really worth.

Other options not less recommended are: visit to the Center of Interpretation of El Peñón de Ifach, contemplate the wildlife of Las Salinas, walk the ecological trails from Calpe to Moraira, or the Prince of Asturias. For the most daring Calpe give us the opportunity to climb the south face of the Peñón de Ifach

The beaches and coves in Calpe

Calpe offers 13 km of coastline with 14 beaches and coves for you to choose. From golden sand and busy ones, to quiet and small sandy coves. You will also find virgin coasts formed with rocks that create amazing cliffs. All recognizable by the purity of their clean waters and  an unmistakable blue color.

Arenal-Bol and La Fossa-Levante are endless urban beaches of sand highly recomended for a break, where you can also enjoy sports and nautical activities. All surrounded with a lot of services and facilities.

With more than 5 km of beautiful cliffs among which the Peñón de Ifach stand out, Toix and La Manzanera, surrounded by vegetation. We find beautiful and quiet coves sculpted by blows of sea and wind, such as El Penyal, Les Bassetes or El Racó, magical places where diving, fishing and sailing become unforgettable experiences.

Virgin coves with charm, ideal to lose track of time, to practice diving and Fishing with the breathtaking views of the Sierra de Toix as a background.

The parties in Calpe

The City Council not only offers the usual possibility of sun and beach, but also throughout the year, many festive events, from the arrival of the Magi in January to the Moors and Christians in October.

All this festivities decorated with fire and gunpowder, light and color, culture and art. Participating in a mixture of people, gastronomy and folklore.

Holy Week, the Fallas in March, the Bonfires of San Juan in June, La virgen del Carmen on July 16, and the festivities of La Virgen de las Nieves in August with all kinds of popular acts together with the “bous al carrer” establish the festive calendar which is completed with the carnival, the Day of Andalusia in February, the May Cross and “La feria de Andalucia”in July, the Pilgrimage of La Virgen del Rocío and La Virgen de la Merced in September, Pilgrimage of Sant Francesc and the Beer Festival in October or Christmas in December.
