Hiking Routes in Alfás del Pi

This route runs through the area of Sierra Helada del Albir (Alfaz del Pi). From the beginning, the hiker can follow the necessary indications to take the right path, as the park is signposted.

In it, the walker finds a small slope through which he can descend without difficulty to the Caleta del Metge, as well as a viewpoint overlooking the bay of Altea and the Peñón de Ifach de Calpe. Continue along the path and pass through a tunnel in which there is another viewpoint close to it. From then on, the La Mina cove awaits you on its left bank, so called because there are some old ochre mines on its land. After about 500 metres, a natural hole known as Boca de la Balena can be seen on the upper right. After contemplating the beauty of the place worthy of being photographed, the journey ends at El Faro del Albir.

Along these routes we can observe how water eroded the rock and its effects on a substrate of compacted sand. In addition, we will find the botanical species, birds and little mammals and reptiles typical form this type of riverbeds.

The Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park has various trekking routes, making it the perfect complement to your day of sea and sun. Furthermore, the old railway line, the Via Verde, is the perfect route to get from the town to the Natural Park. Among many other possibilities, you can do a full circle from the Vía Verde, which will take you to the north east side of the Torrevieja Lagoon.
