The Costa Blanca Bike Race 2020

The sixth edition of the La Costa Blanca Bike Race (CBBR), a mountain bike race in the individual and pair categories, starts this Thursday in Altea, with more than nine hundred record participants in the competition.

The CBBR was presented on Wednesday in Altea and Fermín Egido, director of the race, stressed that this year will be "The best edition" of all, therefore, due to the number of participants, as for the route, has had to be rectified thanks to the recent storm 'Gloria'.

In the competition, framed in the calendar of the International Cyclist Union (UCI) level S2, the amateur and professional cyclists coexist, who put themselves in play, in the category of elite, to opt for points to the classification of the next Olympic Games of Tokyo.

"However, we have come up with a better route", mentioned Egido, who highlighted the 30% increase in participation and the large foreign presence, as riders from 30 countries will be present.

The presentation ceremony also featured sports personalities and participants such as former professional cyclist Joaquim 'Purito' Rodríguez, or motorcycling riders Héctor Barberá and Jaime Masiá.

The stages, which will be longer than usual, with distances of 60km, the start will be in Altea and will end in Finestrat, the Polo, Sierra Helada and Altea antennas next Sunday.

Among the elite cyclists are the Dutchman Hans Becking, the Portuguese Tiago Ferreira, the Norwegians Erik Hagestad and Martin Siggerud and the Spanish Carlos Coloma, medalist in the last Olympic Games in Rio and Pablo Rodriguez. 

As for the women, we find the Bosnian Lejla Tanovic and Rocio del Alba, they start as the top candidates for the final victory.
