Five courses in Torrevieja, Algorfa, Orihuela and Benidorm will be the first to be awarded this distinction by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). The president of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazón, has met in Helsinki with the executive director of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), Peter Walton, to position the province of Alicante as a preferred European destination for this sport in 2020. The meeting is part of the Costa Blanca Tourist Board's participation in the Go Expo Fair held in the Finnish capital this weekend, where the autonomous body will be promoting its sports product on the Scandinavian market in order to deseasonalise the arrival of visitors.
During the working meeting, both responsible have strengthened the intention of IAGTO to progressively incorporate the associated golf courses of the province in its new quality seal. Therefore, they have announced that the first five in having this certification will be those of La Finca in Algorfa, Villamartin in Torrevieja, Las Ramblas in Orihuela Costa, as well as Villa Aitana Levante and Villa Aitana Poniente in Benidorm.
