FESTIVITIES IN BENISSA


JANUARY AND ITS "SAN ANTONIO" FAIR

These festivals are declared of local tourist interest and for a long time has been the commercial center of the region. They group several fair attractions of cattle, a medieval market is created and several activities that take place during the whole day of cultural and other sports.

APRIL AND THE FESTIVITIES IN HONOUR OF THE "PURISIMA XIQUETA"


During this act, one of the most beautiful moments is when the image of the patron saint is lowered and raised, just before the procession begins. Later the Queen of the Feasts is crowned.

To this are added different performances, musical bands, fireworks, bulls, etc..

JUNE - THE MOORS AND CHRISTIANS


This festival of provincial tourist interest, is one of the most awaited during the year.  The weekend closest to the 29th of June is when they take place.

Precious parades are prepared in dazzling costumes, which are made in honour of the ancient combats between the two sides.

The music, the colour, the great atmosphere and many people merge with the locality these dates.

JULY AND AUGUST TAPAS ROUTES


More than a party is an event that is held to promote the bars of the locality. Some of them decide to participate and prepare a specific "tapa" for customers to try and make themselves known for a very reasonable price.  Generally, a map of the city and the location of all those establishments that participate in the event is given.  For customers who also participate, a draw with several prizes is usually prepared.

OCTOBER - MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL


In addition to multiculturalism, reflected in the different types of artisans, customs, gastronomy and dances, the Benissa Multicultural Festival includes a space for sharing experiences and customs of each nationality, based on a general debate centred on integration and equality.
