MARCH HALF MARATHON

During this month the so-called Half Marathon Dama de Guardamar is held, which consists of a race through the streets of the village over a distance of more than 20 km and is prepared to accommodate people of all ages, with categories for adults and children.

APRIL EASTER WEEK OF REGIONAL TOURIST INTEREST

There are 9 brotherhoods in the town of Guardamar, which participate in the processions and stagings of the Death and Passion of Christ.  These representations are carried out by volunteers of the 9 groups that organize and prepare the Holy Week with great illusion and devotion. The most significant are:

"The entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem", on Palm Sunday; "Prayer of the Garden and Seizure", on Holy Monday; "The washing of Pilate", on Holy Tuesday; "The meeting of Veronica", on Good Friday.

Along with all this, we must highlight the music offered by the Drum Bands and Cornets of the confraternities themselves throughout the week.  We are talking about a practice that has taken great importance until adding more than 600 people who participate every year.

The following Monday called "Easter" is customary to eat in the pine forest of the village the famous "mona" sweet sponge cake very typical.

JULY - MOORS AND CHRISTIANS FESTIVITIES

At the end of the month, the most eagerly awaited festival of the whole year is celebrated in honour of the local patron saint San Jaime. These festivities commemorate the Christian reconquest of the Muslims. The festival begins as every year with a proclamation of the festivities and a representation of the legend of "La Encantá".

During the festivities we can dance in the Barraca Popular and in the cuartelillos and kábilas of the different comparsas. The embassies and parades of the Moorish and Christian sides are, without a doubt, the most spectacular moments of the fiesta, in which the history of the reconquest is relived.  Music and fire (with the Correfocs, the aquatic fireworks castles, the mascletà, etc.) are the protagonists of this festival.
