FIESTAS IN DENIA


FEBRUARY - TAPAS ROUTE

Generally held at the end of February beginning of March.  It is at this event when a tapa and a drink is offered for a modest price.Several establishments participate in it, and a passport is distributed to customers with information about the tapas and the places where they offer them. By filling out the paper, customers enter a draw with several prizes.

MARCH - FAULTS

In honour of San José, these are festivities with an artisan character and with a great tradition (since the 18th century) celebrated on the 19th of this month.  Previously the festival begins with the so-called "PLANTÁ" when the monuments are placed until the date of San José when they are burned.

The fallas create a great festive atmosphere throughout the city and its visitors can observe the preciousness and art of each of them.All this surrounded by fireworks, flower offerings and music in every corner. In the locality the best fallas are burned consecutively what allows to see the burning of all of them.

JULY - MAJOR FESTIVITIES HONORING SANTISIMA SANGRE

These festivities in honour of the "Holy Blood" fill the month with a great number of activities. There are also numerous religious acts and events for the whole family, for example:

- Bous a la mar (Bull in the water)" Where a bull chases the runners and they usually end up getting wet in the sea.  

- The procession of the "Most Holy Blood"

- Concert by the Agrupación Musical de Denia

- Parade of floats with music

- Fireworks to close the holidays

AUGUST - MOORS AND CHRISTIANS

In the middle of the month they begin these parties so awaited by all. Parades, parades, bands and families fill the streets of Denia to celebrate these beautiful days.

Several commemorative acts are celebrated such as "El Desembarco", the Gala Parade, masses and processions, etc.  All in honour of San Roque.

SEPTEMBER - DNA GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL


D*na Festival Dénia is an international gastronomic and leisure festival organised by the Dénia Town Hall and the Valencian Tourist Agency, with chef Quique Dacosta as spokesman and gastronomic curator.

This event wishes to pay tribute to gastronomy as the essence of the Mediterranean lifestyle, as part of its cultural DNA.
